Rajon Rondo: An Unsung Hero

Rajon Rondo runs the Celtics' offense

The Boston Celtics are well-known for their All-Star trio of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Two of the three were acquired in offseason moves two summers ago. Ray Allen was acquired from Seattle, now Oklahoma City, and Kevin Garnett was acquired from the Timberwolves.  What people seem to fail to notice is that there is another player in the Boston Celtics’ roster who keeps the team going. That player is their young, 22-year old point guard, Rajon Rondo.

Rajon Rondo is only averaging 11.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. His stats may not be those of superstars who run the team, but he is definitely one of the league’s best point guards. His only flaw as a point guard is his lack of outside shooting. He doesn’t have a solid jump shot to complement his slashing abilities. Although he lacks in one aspect of his game, his unmatchable quickness and amazing court vision helps him dictate the Celtics’ offense and voids his lack of accuracy from outside the painted area.

The Celtics usually prevail over their foes when Rajon plays well. In a span where they lost 7 of 9 games, Rajon was playing sub par basketball. His play greatly affects Boston’s offense. Now, the Celtics are back to their winning ways once again. Rajon has been instrumental. His level of play has returned to normal.

I agree :D Rondo in my opinion was even better than Cassell during Cassell’s last year!

When Sam Cassell arrived in Boston, his career was on it’s way downhill already. He was at his prime back in Milwaukee, Minnesota, Los Angeles (Clippers).
