Andrew Bynum Injures Right Knee This Time

By Coach | February 1st, 2009

Andrew Bynum

Andrew Bynum is a budding superstar but he has to stay healthy. After a successful return from left knee injury, Bynum is injured again with a sprained right knee. He sustained the injury in their game against Memphis Grizzlies in the first quarter.

The injury occurred at about the 7-minute mark of the first quarter under the Lakers’ basket. Kobe Bryant was drove to the basket, missed the shot and crashed into Bynum’s right leg. Bynum immediately grabbed his knee.

The two were on the ground under their basket as the Grizzlies went to the other end. After Los Angeles gained possession, they called time out. Bynum was helped to the locker room with Los Angeles leading 13-11.

Curiously, it was also the Grizzlies where Bynum was sidelined for 46 games last season. That time around it was the left knee. Good thing we only have two knees otherwise we may see another knee injury next year.

Lakers officials said X-rays were negative and further tests will be done Sunday in New York. The Lakers play the Knicks on Monday night.
