The Minnesota Timberwolves just lost its star player to an ACL injury. Al Jefferson, the Wolves’ starting center and leading scorer and rebounder, injured his knee in a game against the New Orleans Hornets. He was averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves. He is one of three NBA players who is averaging at least 20 and 10. Al Jefferson will be out indefinitely, most likely the whole season.

Al Jefferson is Minnesota’s budding superstar. He has been dominating the paint with his incredible post moves. This injury will be a big blow to the Timberwolves. They will be relying heavily on their bench now to fill the shoes of their injured big man. Players like Craig Smith and more importantly, rookie Kevin Love will have step up. Kevin Love has showed that he is capable of crashing the boards and being a team player. He will have to help his team by being more instrumental in the scoring column. As for the guards, Randy Foye and Sebastian Telfair will have to keep up what they did during the month of January. The Wolves had a winning record last month, thanks to team’s imprressive play.

How will the Minnesota Timberwolves do without their leader and superstar, Al Jefferson? Everyone will have to step it up. They will have to look within themselves and put up a better team effort every night if they want to win.
