The Hornets’ starting center, Tyson Chandler, will be shipped to the Oklahoma City Thunder. New Orleans will be receiving Chris Wilcox and veteran Joe Smith. It is said that the move was done due to money involved reasons. Tyson Chandler is set to making $12 million next season.

Tyson Chandler is averaging 8.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 32 games with the New Orleans Hornets. He is a force in the middle defensively and is also a sure scorer when he gets above the rim, many thanks to former teammate Chris Paul. He is capable of blocking shots inside the paint and will surely continue to intimidate players who penetrate inside. He will surely be a great addition to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Chris Wilcox is averaging 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Thunder this season. Like, Tyson Chandler, Chris is known for his play above the rim. We have to see if he will be able to fill the huge shoes of Tyson Chandler in the center position for the Hornets. Joe Smith, a veteran in the league, will bring experience to the Hornets team. We have to see if he will be getting into Byron Scott’s player rotation. Joe is averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds.

This trade will surely benefit the Oklahoma City Thunder. The only piece the Thunder lack is a solid center to complement young guns, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Jeff Green. On the other hand, we will see if Chris Paul will continue to work his magic with their newly acquired high-flyer, Chris Wilcox.
