The Denver Nuggets had a bit of a scare the other night when their starting center, Nene, had to leave the floor in their 120-117 loss to Milwaukee. Nene was feared to have a worse injury due to his knee’s history. He had undergone surgery for a torn ACL in his knee a few years back.

Nene has been playing very well for the Denver Nuggets this season. He is averaging 14.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He has been the man in the middle for the Nuggets. Nene is well-known for his massive facial dunks on players of opposing teams. He is a player who holds a great deal of strength. When healthy, he is one of the best center’s in the league.

Nene’s recovery allowed the Denver Nuggets to let go of their former center, now a member of the Clippers, Marcus Camby. When he injured his knee against Milwaukee, the team thought he had re-injured his knee. Luckily, MRI results showed that it was only a bruised knee. He collided knees with Richard Jefferson of the Bucks.

The Denver Nuggets could now breathe easily knowing that their center is safe from harm. THey will need him if they want to make a run in the postseason. For now, Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen have to step up to fill the void that Nene has left. Nene is set to be back in about a week according to sources.
