Stephon Marbury is officially joining the defending world champions, the Boston Celtics. After much talk on where Stephon will be headed, he is finally playing a game. He has been out of the playing court for around a year already. Stephon will be rejoining former Minnesota teammate Kevin Garnett. Stephon and Kevin played a few years together in Minnesota early in their careers.

Stephon has been looking to resolve his situation with the New York Knicks for months. He was able to finally get an agreement to a contract buyout of his $20.8 million. Just a few days after being waived, he was taken in by the Boston organization. The Boston Celtics are looking to revive their once deep bench. (The Celtics lost James Posey to the free agency in the offseason.) The Celtics look to increase their chances of winning back-to-back championships.

Stephon will either be a big boost to the Celtics, or a burden. Stephon is known for his attitude problems during his time in New York. If he gets his act together, he will be a very good acquisition for the Celtics. Stephon is capable of distributing the ball well and slashing through the lane to create opportunities for his teammates. We will see which face of Stephon we will be seeing.
