Westbrook Showing True Potential

Russell Westbrook was under the radar early in the season. He was getting very limited minutes in Oklahoma City’s rotation. Now, he has proved himself to coaches and critics that he is more than just a high-flying guard. He has learned to distribute the ball to his teammates well. He has been promoted to take charge of the starting point guard position. He is quickly maturing into one of the league’s better point guards. He has also been providing firepower for his team. He has been showing his scorer’s potential by garnering more or less 30 points from time to time.
In Oklahoma City’s most recent game with the Mavericks, Russell Westbrook recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 10 boards and 10 assists. He helped his team steal a win from one of the top teams in the competitive Western Conference. On a night when two of the team’s primary offensive options, Durant and Green, were unavailable due to injuries, Westbrook stepped up, as he has been doing for the Thunder often, to help his team upset the Dallas Mavericks.
Russell Westbrook is slowly but surely becoming one of the top rookies this season. He will be in a tight race with Derrick Rose and O.J. Mayo for this year’s Rookie of the Year Award. Russell Westbrook is another bright spot for the Thunder along with Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. He surely has the potential to be among the league’s elite players.
