Rudy Fernandez left their game against the Los Angeles Lakers during the third quarter when he was fouled hard by the Lakers’ Trevor Ariza. Rudy was running the break when he received a pass from Brandon Roy. Upon his final approach to the basket, Trevor Ariza seemed like he was going for the ball but caught the head and arm of Rudy Fernandez. Rudy fell to the ground and bounced on the hardwood. He had to be taken off the court on a stretcher. Both teams looked very concerned on the sidelines while Rudy was being prepared to be taken off the court. Rudy sustained injuries to his chest. MRI and CT Scan tests were negative. The date of return of Rudy Fernandez is still unsure.

Rudy Fernandez is a rookie for the Blazers. He is one of the many reasons why the Blazers are successful this season and on the way to a playoff berth. Rudy was shooting 100% from the field before he was hurt. He made all four of his attempts, including two three-pointers, en route to 11 points. It was a tragic moment for the Blazers. Pau Gasol, Rudy’s teammate in the Spanish National Team, looked very worried as well. Trevor Ariza also expressed his concern for Rudy. He claims and it seems like Trevor was really just going for the ball. Things like these are very prone to happen in a basketball game. Everyone wishes the best for Rudy Fernandez.

Final Score:
Portland 111 – Los Angeles 94
