The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs in their meeting in Oklahoma City. Wait a minute, the Thunder beat the Spurs? Most would assume that it was the Spurs who played terribly and let their guard down. In my opinion, that’s not the case. Aside from surprising the Spurs with an upset, the Thunder denied Gregg Popovich of a win on his 1000th game as a coach.

The Thunder have been showing great play of late. In their last 10 games, they have won 6 times. From being the worst team in the league, they are now 25th of 30. They have gone ahead of the Wizards, Grizzlies, Clippers, and Kings. The recent success of the Thunder even saw Kevin Durant sitting a few games due to an injury. In the span of games without Durant, Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green stepped up for the Thunder. After the All-Star break, the Thunder seems to have found a new light. They have been playing a lot better compared to their intensely shaky start to the season. Although they have lost a lot of games, the future looks well for them especially with their young stars. They just have to get a steady big man in the draft or free agent market in the upcoming offseason. Maybe if the trade for Tyson Chandler pushed through, their team would already be a contender for the postseason in 2010. We have to wait and see now whether the Thunder make nice moves during the postseason.
