Hornets Inching Closer to Southwest Division Lead

The Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets beat the Golden State Warriors in their most recent meeting, 99-89. The Hornets are now within 1.5 games of the Southwest Division leading Houston Rockets. The Rockets have a 47-25 win-loss record with 10 games remaining while the Hornets have a 44-25 record with 13 games remaining.
The Hornets have recently become one of the top teams because of the arrival of their young point guard, Chris Paul, a few years back. He has been the team leader and orchestrator of the Hornets team. In the games when Chris would be out this season, the Hornets struggled to grab a win. The Hornets are also getting excellent production from David West. David West is their all around big man who is capable of shooting well from the perimeter. It would be wonderful though if he could further improve his defense. Probably the best addition to the Hornets team this year, who beat the Spurs last season in the playoffs but lost to the Lakers in the Conference Finals, would be James Posey. James Posey is well-known for his shutdown defense on opponent’s star players. He also has a steady shot from the 3-point area. He helped his former teams, Miami and Boston, win an NBA Championship. He was always an instrumental player. Last but not the least, Tyson Chandler, who was supposed to be shipped to the Thunder, would probably be the blessing in disguise. He failed the physical that’s why he remained with the Hornets. He has been their number one defender in the paint and has great chemistry with Paul for those fancy alley-hoop dunks.Overall, the Hornets have one of the best teams in the league. They just have to stay healthy.
Aside from the ones mentioned earlier, the Hornets also have Peja Stojakovic and other role players in the team. They have great potential in getting far in the playoffs. I hope they’ll be able to secure top 4 spot in the West for home court advantage at least in the first round.
