Bulls Steal One on the Road, Upset Celtics

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics in the Playoff’s opening game. An extra period was needed to decide the outcome of the game as the Bulls beat the defending champs, 105-103. On top of taking a 1-0 lead in the first round of the playoffs, the Bulls beat the Celtics on their home court, a place where the Celtics were undefeated in last year’s postseason.
Derrick Rose led the way for the Bulls with 36 points and 11 assists. Take note, Derrick Rose is just a rookie. It seems like he was too much to handle for the Celtics. It was Derrick’s first career playoff game and it surely was a memorable one for him. Joakim Noah also contributed a double-double with 11 points and a monstrous 17 rebound performance. Ben Gordon scored 20 and Tyrus Thomas, who made a corner bucket with 51 seconds remaining, scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
On the other hand, it was Rajon Rondo who played incredibly well for the Celtics. He scored 29 points, dished 9 assists, and grabbed 7 rebounds. Paul Pierce scored 23 points.Ray Allen, one of the Celtic’s big three, only scored 4 points in the entire game. Kevin Garnett was still out of the court since injuring his knee towards the end of the regular season.
The Celtics will surely come out strong in their next meeting. We will see if the Bulls are for real or they were just able to steal one from the defending champs.
