In Lebron James’ first game after being crowned the Kia MVP Award for the regular season, he scored 34 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and picked his opponents’ pocket 4 times to lead his team past the Atlanta Hawks. Mo Williams added 21 and Delonte scored 13. Only three players from Cleveland scored in double digits but it wasn’t a different story for the Hawks. Josh Smith had 22 points and 6 rebounds. Mike Bibby had 19 points and 8 assists. Joe Johnson, the team’s leading scorer only chipped in 11 points in a losing effort.

It was still a close game during the first half as the Cavaliers only had a four point lead entering the break. But slowly but surely they fired away in the second half and were able to distance themselves from the Hawks. Next game will be in Cleveland then both teams will head to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4.

In the west coast, the Denver Nuggets have taken a 2-0 lead over the Dallas Mavericks. Chauncey Billups is proving himself to be one of the premier point guards in the league. He has truly changed the tides for his team upon arriving to join the Nuggets. Tonight, he once again proved his worth as he triggered Denver’s 2nd half run that gave them the lead for good. Carmelo and Nene both scored 25 points followed by J.R. Smith’s 21, and Chauncey’s 18 (all in the second half). Carmelo scored 15 of his 25 points in the crucial 4th quarter. Dirk Nowitzki led the way for the Mavericks with 35 points. Jason Terry added 21, and Antoine Wright scored 10. No one else in their team scored in double digits. The teams will now head to Dallas. We will see if the Mavs can win at home.
