Two teams playing in the third game of their playoff matchups will not have their starting point guards with them. Rafer Alston of the Orlando Magic and Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers will not be with their team in game 3 action for their respective teams.

Rafer Alston was suspended because he swung and hit the back of the head of Eddie House after Eddie House hit a basket in his face. This will be a big loss for the Orlando Magic who already lost Jameer Nelson in the regular season to injury. They will be looking to Anthony Johnson or Tyronne Lue to take the point. The responsibility may also be given to Hedo Turkoglu. Whoever they choose, they will have a hard time because of Rajon Rondo’s presence. He can easily pressure any of the point guard options of the Magic. Rondo might just leave behind the Magic point guards.

Derek Fisher struck Luis Scola with his shoulder and head as Fisher was setting a pick. He hit Luis Scola and he fell to the ground. Be it an exaggerated acting job or he really fell because of the impact, Derek Fisher will be suspended for game 3. Although the team will have Jordan Farmar to take the point, the team will be missing out on Derek Fisher a lot. He brings a lot to the table. He is one of the most seasoned veterans and best shooters on the team.

We will see how these suspensions will affect their respective teams’ performances. This should be a lesson for other players not to do anything dumb especially when you’re one of the most relied on players of the team.
