Clippers win first pick in draft lottery

The Los Angeles Clippers will be picking first in this year’s NBA Draft. The last time they had the chance to do so was back in 1998 when they picked Michael Olowakandi; some of you might not even recognize his name too well. They will now have a chance to redeem themselves. They will probably be taking the All-American Forward playing for the Oklahoma Sooners. He averaged 22.7 points and 14.4 rebounds as a sophomore. Other contenders to be picked in the top 3 would be Ricky Rubio (point guard) and Hasheem Thabeet (center).
The Clippers had the 3rd highest chances in winning the first pick. The team with the 250/1000 chance was the Sacramento Kings who slipped to fourth overall. The Memphis will be picking 2nd followed by the Thunder. The Wizards will be selecting fifth to round off the top 5.
The latter mentioned will be picking after the Wizards in the following order; Minnesota, Golden State, New York, Toronto, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Charlotte, Indiana, then Phoenix. As for the playoff teams, they will be selecting in reverse order of their records, from worst to best record.
A lot of teams will have a chance to improve their team’s make-up through this year’s draft. There could be big trades going down just like how the Celtics acquired Allen and Garnett and eventually won the championship. There could also be players that could instantly make an impact like Lebron James. Last but not the least, the Draft steals. These include the likes of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Gilbert Arenas, and many more. We will see who will be making the most out of this year’s draft.
