Lakers Take Game 1

The Los Angeles have taken game 1 of the battle of the titans in the West. The Lakers defeated the Nuggets, 105-103. It was a battle of superstars in the Staples Center. As Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony went at it.

Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 40 points, going 12-13 from the free throw line. He also hit crucial free throws in the dying seconds of the game. Kobe also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Derek Fisher contributed 13 points. Pau Gasol scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Carmelo Anthony led his team in scoring with 39 points, going 4-5 from three. He grabbed 6 rebounds and had 4 assists just like his all-star counterpart. Chauncey Billups scored 18 points and dished 8 dimes. Nene encountered some foul trouble as he was only able to play for 21 minutes before fouling out. Kenyon Martin scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

The first quarter ended with the Nuggets leading 8 points but the Lakers came storming back in the second quarter taking a one points lead by halftime. The Nuggets took the lead once again by the end of the third by two points. Towards the end of the game, it came down to free throw shooting by the two teams. With the Lakers leading 103-102, Carmelo fouled Kobe. Kobe hit two free throws to give the Lakers a three point lead. On the next possession, J.R. Smith was fouled. He made the first and missed the second. Kobe grabbed the rebound to seal the game.

Game 2 will probably be another exciting game as the Nuggets will look to even things up.
