Lakers Advance To NBA Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers have completed their run in the Western Conference as they defeated the Denver Nuggets, 119-92. The Nuggets gave the LA fans a scare when they came out strong in the first game and defeated the Lakers at home. But the Lakers showed poise and championship experience when they bounced back and showed how Lakers basketball is really played. The Lakers won games 2, 3, 5, and 6.
Kudos to the Denver Nuggets who fought valiantly to try and make it to the NBA Finals. They showed that next year, they will be a team to watch out for. A lot of their players matured and came out better this year as they were able to secure the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. Many thanks to the leadership of Chauncey Billups AND the replacement of Allen Iverson. The Nuggets offense drastically changed when Billups joined the team.
Game 6 seemed like a lop-sided victory for the Lakers. Without regard for the final score, the Nuggets played their hearts out in this game. The Lakers just executed better. Kobe Bryant, this year’s MVP runner-up, scored 35 points and dished out 10 assists, a category he has slowly but surely improved on. Pau Gasol had 20 points and 12 rebounds while Lamar Odom contributed 20 points. Trevor Ariza also played well for the Lakers, giving them a boost in the first quarter. He scored 10 in the first and finished with 17 points.
For the Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony led the way with 25 points. J.R. Smith had 24 points. Chauncey, always a key factor, only scored 10 points and dished out 9 assists. Only four players scored in double figures for the Nuggets, only two above twenty.
The Lakers will be playing against the winner of the Magic-Cavaliers matchup in the Eastern Conference.
