Today, Dallas-based Elevate Your Game, Inc. announced Wednesday, September 16th as the date for its annual national coaches clinic. This year’s event will again draw the top names in basketball, including Bill Self, Head Coach of the 2008 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks, Mark Turgeon, Head Coach of the Texas A&M Aggies and renowned NBA Coach, Del Harris, as instructors. Harris will also be honored as the first recipient of the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
“The feedback we received from last year’s camp was tremendous. The opportunity to honor and celebrate the career achievements of Del makes this year even more special,” said Charles H. Williams, President and Founder, Elevate Your Game, Inc. “This clinic is a total basketball immersion with coaches on the highest level providing hands-on instruction.”
The 2009 coaches clinic is specifically crafted to help high school, AAU and college coaches improve players on and off the court. The three-hour clinic will break down offensive and defensive strategies, game preparation, team fundamentals, player skill development and intricacies of the game.
As the inaugural recipient of the Elevate Your Game’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Harris’ illustrious career spans more than 50 years. His notable achievements include leading the Houston Rockets to the 1981 NBA Finals and Coach of the Year honors with the Lakers in 1994-1995. Recently, Harris spent the last few seasons as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks and retired from coaching after spending the 2008 season with the Chicago Bulls.
